In July 2025, the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) has begun active negotiation with the manufacturer of exagamglogene autotemcel). This is a significant because it brings the availability and access to a gene-editing treatment for transfusion-dependent beta-thalassemia in Canada. Costs are currently estimated to be around $2.8M per patient. TFC is hopeful that negotiations between pCPA, which represents the provinces and other public drug providers, and the manufacturer will conclude with a lower price for equitable and comprehensive access to gene-therapy to the patients of Canada. https://www.pcpacanada.ca/negotiation/22969
